Words: Pebbles and Balm

A little child was walking past the shops excitedly and gleefully recording different and new images in her eyes. Her gait and gestures signaled to her parents that she wanted to remain there on the busy street of the main market enjoying the lights and temptations of the shops. Suddenly, her eyes were fixed on a big chocolate cake in a bakery shop. Her mother did not softly refuse her demand but hurled a harsh rebuke at her tiny face. Such actions leave a deep impact on a child's psyche. Psyche is very fragile and delicate- either of a child or of an adult. This anecdote is inserted here to support the belief that words are effective tools to be either used  to hurt people or heal people.
We, sometimes, think we are the best judges of certain situations and we choose our reactions accordingly. We choose to react in full rage when a cool reaction would save all the disgrace and chaos. We end up ruining our precious relationships with our violent words. Furious words create more turbulence and ruckus and relationships end badly. In the recent times, much has been destroyed with the assault of cruel words. We need to calm our minds and value all good people around us. If we do not like some people, we are free to maintain distance with them. It is always better to say our side with conviction and politeness. There is no need to argue at every point and also to persuade others to agree to whatever we feel, think or say.  It is very easy to make the landscape of our relationships barren with coarse words but it is very difficult to make them harmonious again. I have made promise to myself to be selective with my words whenever I feel disappointed with any of my family members/relatives/friends or colleagues.
