Some Steps to hone Writing Skills

          
        
         
Conveying a message is very significant and when a person puts across his/her mind with conviction, the utterance is complete in a real sense. All of us struggle to find right words to communicate but the simple fact of doing regular practice makes all the difference. This post is chiefly about the several facets of writing skills. How tedious we have become without anything to write for so many days! It is no artificial statement that writing gives vent to a suffocating mind. It helps use the positive energy of our mind. We can begin doing that by writing at least five-six lines everyday. To stimulate one's interest, typing some lines in the memo section of one's mobile, can prove very effective.
             One has to keep the heart sensitive to observe things around; only then the expression of  the thoughts become easy and pleasant. In modern scenario, social media and other technological developments have influenced our sensitivity to a large extent. One should make optimum use of one's exposure to the surroundings. One can keep the following points in mind to practise writing:
  •  First of all, begin by selecting a topic from instant or distant surroundings. 
  • Brainstorm your mind with ideas from the present or past sources of your life.
  • Begin by writing simple words and sentences.
  • Gradually, you can access online resources like www.thesaurus.com, www.sentence.yourdictionary.com to refine your words and sentences. 
  • Work on grammar, spellings and punctuation 
  • Re-reading the text aloud or with concentration helps you notice the use of words and sentence structure. 
  • Always remember, "I can write well."
  • With confidence, you can write everyday. Regular practice is the essential requisite to achieve writing skills.
  • Certain expressions should be kept in mind: differences between their/there; principle/principal
  • remember your audience.
  • If you have interest in your writing, only then others will involve into reading your text. You can write within your peer group(s) and share feedback.
  • Online word games like crossword puzzles and anagrams can be played to improve one's vocabulary. Anagram is a word, phrase or a sentence formed by rearranging the letters of another, for instance, 'Still' made from 'Tills', 'angel' formed from 'glean' and many others.
  • Also remember, "The more you read, the better you write.
